Cellulite is completely normal and affects an estimated 90% of women of all shapes and sizes. However, despite how common it is, many women feel that their cellulite is unsightly, unattractive, and makes them look older. If you have cellulite and want to minimize its appearance, consider QWO—a new and long-lasting cellulite treatment that can effectively remove dimpling to make you feel younger, lighter, and more confident about your appearance.
Here’s a closer look at how QWO works to treat cellulite, and where you can go to find this new, safe, and effective skin rejuvenation treatment.
What Is QWO?
QWO is an injectable treatment that reduces cellulite by destroying old collagen particles in your skin. This non-surgical procedure is far less invasive than many other cellulite reduction treatments and requires you to visit the clinic only three times to achieve optimal results. QWO was approved by the FDA in July 2020 and is intended to treat moderate to severe cellulite.
How Does QWO Treat Cellulite?
QWO injectables contain enzymes called collagenases and proteinases. These enzymes break down collagen particles in areas with cellulite and stimulate the growth of new, healthy collagen particles. This results in smoother skin texture, reduced dimpling, and tighter-looking skin.
What Areas Can Be Treated With QWO?
At present, QWO is approved only for the treatment of cellulite on the buttocks. However, it may also be used to treat cellulite on the upper thighs with a doctor’s approval. If you want to confirm whether QWO can effectively reduce all your cellulite, we can perform an examination during your initial consultation and discuss realistic expectations. We also have other cellulite reduction treatments in the event QWO may not work best for you.
What Happens During a QWO Appointment?
Shortly after you arrive at our clinic, our doctor will have you change into a gown, then mark the areas of your body to be injected with QWO. Next, you will lie down on a table where you can relax while our doctor injects the marked areas of your body with QWO. Local anesthesia is usually not given or recommended, as this procedure involves the use of tiny needles that are relatively painless.
Most patients have between 12 and 24 cellulite dimples treated during one QWO session. The entire procedure usually only takes about 10 minutes and produces no downtime—meaning you can resume your normal activities immediately following your appointment.
All three QWO appointments will work much the same way, with results becoming more noticeable after each appointment. Treatment sessions are usually scheduled 21 days apart to allow each of the injections to break down and reduce your cellulite effectively.
Do QWO Treatments Produce Any Side Effects?
QWO is not entirely a non-invasive procedure given it involves injections; therefore, it may produce some side effects. Bruising is common with QWO cellulite treatment, which usually occurs within 24 hours following the injections and goes away on its own after about 10 to 14 days. In addition to bruising, you may also experience mild tenderness, swelling, and redness at each injection site.
Who Are Ideal Candidates For QWO Cellulite Treatment?
QWO skin rejuvenation is approved for the treatment of moderate to severe cellulite in women between the ages of 18 and 78 years. This treatment can effectively reduce cellulite in instances where there is no skin laxity, as skin laxity may be treated more effectively with skin tightening procedures such as Fractora, Forma, and Forma Plus.
Women who are not ideal candidates for QWO include those who are allergic to any of the ingredients in QWO injections, those who have active infections at treatment sites, those who have bleeding disorders, and those who are pregnant or nursing.
If you are unsure whether you could benefit more from QWO or skin tightening treatments, our doctor can perform an evaluation, talk to you about your aesthetic goals, and make treatment recommendations during your initial consultation.
