Premium Quality Sculptra Injection Treatments In Pasadena

Do you love the results of injectables, but wish they lasted longer? Do you want to look more naturally youthful without appearing like you’ve had ‘work’ done? Do you want to address an underlying cause of aging, not just the symptoms?Meet Sculptra –an FDA-approved injectable- a collagen-stimulating treatment that can last for more than two years.

What is Sculptra?

Sculptra promotes the production of our own collagen to gradually replace lost collagen, age-related bone loss, diminish deep wrinkles, and restore volume and a youthful contour.

In medical terms, Sculptra is a biocompatible and biodegradable polymer poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA). More simply explained, lactic acid is produced in our normal metabolism and through exercise. Sculptra is a chain of lactic acid derived from natural components. It’s natural to our body, so there is no allergy testing needed prior treatment. After it’s injected into the skin, it stimulates collagen tore-generate around the polymer chain. Once it’s metabolized to the end product of carbon dioxide (CO2), it’s readily excreted through our respiratory system, yet leaves the collagen behind.

PLLA has been widely used in surgeries, dissolvable sutures, and tissue implants for many years. Sculptra has been used in Europe cosmetically since the late ‘90s. In 2004, the FDA approved it for volume correction of lipoatrophy (a condition of facial fat loss) and for cosmetic use in facial volumization.

How does Sculptra work?

After a full complimentary assessment by our Board Certified physician, Sculptra will be carefully injected to your desired areas. Please note that Sculptra injections require a more advanced skill set and training, artistic eye and extensive knowledge of anatomy are vital for the optimal placement and result, and therefore should only be administered by an experienced doctor.

Once Sculptra is injected to the right plane of the skin, our body starts to produce stands of collagen to restore structure, support and volume. This process is gradual and may take four to five weeks since our body needs time to make new collagen. On average, two to three treatments are needed over a period of few months. (Number of treatments may vary based on individual condition.) However, you will be rewarded with natural, soft and long lasting result build with your own collagen. Results can last for more than two years. *

Sculptra vs Fillers

Both Sculptra and fillers are done by injection. They both add volume to correct deep lines/wrinkles as a result of volume depletion, but how they work are different because they are each made of different compounds.

To better understand the difference of these two types of treatment, it is helpful to learn a few basics of the skin.

From superficial to deep layers, our skin maintains its structure through hyaluronic acid, collagen, fat, muscle layer, and bone mass. Youthful skin has an abundance of hyaluronic acid, they are the “gooey”like carbohydrate (sugar) molecules and they are hydrophilic (water loving). This function helps us understand why hydration is vital to healthy skin. One-third ofour body’s hyaluronic acid goes through daily turnover –and we lose them as we age.

In the deep layer (dermis) of skin lays collagen and keratin, which act as the foundation or building matrix, and play a very important role of maintaining skin structure, tissue repair and nutrient exchange.

Most of the fillers are made of hyaluronic acid (HA), and they provide an instant result of volume and correction. However, collagen production is not their main function.

Sculptra is composed of poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA), they are the collagen stimulators. It helps our body make own natural collagen, and this collagen making process will require some time (typically four to five weeks) before noticeable results. Itis ideal for someone looking for subtle, gradual changes.

In addition to the aforementioned treatment benefits and indications, Sculptra is one of our top recommended treatments for someone who has lost a moderate amount facial fat from years of strenuous exercise, or someone who has lost moderate amount of collagen or bone mass as natural aging process. In either cases, multiple syringes of fillers will be necessary, however Sculptra may provide an economical alternative of longer lasting results, as some studies have shown that one vial of Sculptra might be equivalent to two to three syringes of fillers (ratio varies asto different fillers).

How soon should I see results from Sculptra?

Results appear gradually over four to five weeks following treatment. On average, two to three injection appointments are needed over a period of a few months. The number of injection treatments and the number of injections per treatment vary from person to person, depending on how much collagen has been lost. Once the treatment series is complete, results can last for more than two years. Minor touch ups may needed depend on individual response and metabolism.
