SilkPeel Dermalinfusion (SilkPeel Facial) vs. Hydrafacial

SilkPeel Dermalinfusion (SilkPeel Facial) vs. Hydrafacial

Excessive Sweat Reduction

For decades, facials have been an excellent way to care for the skin by treating blemishes, resolving textural concerns, and restoring a healthy complexion.* However, with the influx of so many treatment options available, it can be a daunting task figuring out which treatment is right for you and your skin’s needs. There are a lot of safe and cost effective options now available, including both the HydraFacial and the SilkPeel Dermalinfusion (SilkPeel Facial), two of the newest and best facial treatments around… but which one is right for you? Let’s take a closer look.

The HydraFacial is a skin resurfacing treatment that cleanses, exfoliates, extracts, and hydrates the skin. With its patented Vortex tip, the device simultaneously removes dead skin cells and other impurities from the skin, while infusing the cells with serums that cleanse and moisturize.*

The HydraFacial combines Salicylic acid and Glycolic acid to chemically exfoliate the skin. This can have a positive effect on patients who struggle with active acne, but can dry and irritate clients who are not steadily experiencing breakouts. Unfortunately, the serum is housed in large containers of multi-use solutions, which could affect the efficacy due to exposure to light and air. Treatment takes about 30 minutes or less, and there is virtually no pain or downtime.*

SilkPeel Dermalinfusion (SilkPeel Facial)

The SilkPeel treatment combines non-invasive microdermabrasion and Dermalinfusion. It is equipped with a diamond tip and uses microdermabrasion technology to slough off the top layer of dead skin cells. This helps to address the buildup of dead skin, discoloration, and can stimulate collagen and elastin production; therefore reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.* Dermalinfusion involves the delivery of topical solutions that penetrate the dermal skin layers and initiate cell regeneration.*

Unique to the SilkPeel, there are four different serums that can be used during the treatment, which are chosen by your Esthetician or Physician during your consultation.

  1. The Hydrating serum that delivers intensive hydration using Hyaluronic Acid.*
  2. The Clarity solution that uses a combination of Salicylic acid and hydrating properties to gently exfoliate clients who are experiencing breakouts, without over drying the skin.*
  3. The Patented Lumyxl Brightening serum combines various unique brightening agents that are used to lift and lighten existing pigments due to post inflammation or sun damage.*
  4. The Vitamin-C serum which infuses the skin with a potent dose of vitamin-C which delivers powerful antioxidants as well as anti-aging and brightening benefits to the skin.*

The SilkPeel Dermalinfusion uses individual prepackaged disposable treatment heads to ensure no cross-contamination between patients. Every patient also receives his or her very own individually packaged infusion solution to use in its entirety during the treatment to ensure proper sanitation protocols. Basically, the solutions are always fresh.

The SilkPeel can be used on almost every skin type, due to the interchangeability of grit in the diamond-tip headpiece.* There are roughly six different options starting at a grit of 140 (for extremely sensitive skin, including rosacea) all the way to a grit of 60 (for thickened aging skin.) No matter the size of grit, when properly executed, the treatment has little to no downtime.* It not only evenly exfoliates the skin, but it also rehydrates dry damaged skin without over-processing it.*

Which gives you a better treatment?

The choice of treatment depends on the condition of the skin, as well as the specific skin concerns being treated. It is always recommended that you have a consultation with a Physician or Aesthetician, before undergoing any treatment of this kind. However, the SilkPeel is the obvious choice amongst skincare providers due to the customizable variables, sanitation, and efficacy of results.* Patients receive a more thorough exfoliation and a luxurious sanitary experience.

If you want to treat those stubborn blackheads, acne scarring, fine lines, or just need a total facial rejuvenation but don’t want to do any invasive harsh treatments, the SilkPeel Dermalinfusion can be the perfect option for you!*

Parfaire’s own Dr. Winnie Moses is a world-class board-certified physician who will be happy to provide you with a thorough skin analysis during a complimentary consultation. From there, should you want to have a SilkPeel facial, one of Parfaire’s experienced Medical Aestheticians who will perform the luxury SilkPeel treatment.

How to Get Clear Skin And Repair Sun Damage

How to Get Clear Skin And Repair Sun Damage

SilkPeel Facial Treatment

I think we’re all a little guilty of not being as SPF complaint as we should be. From past summers of slathering on the deep-tanning oil at the beach to outdoor activities like jogging and hiking, the sun and UV damage starts to take its toll on your skin. While more and more skincare specialists are stressing the importance of SPF and protecting your skin, the fact is SPF cannot REVERSE or HEAL the effects of sun photodamage. This damage often shows up as dark spots, irregular pigmentation, and rough tone. What can be done about sun damage to the skin then?

We have two treatments here at Parfaire that can help improve and reverse sun damaged skin: One is out “Clear Skin Treatment” with Lumecca and the other is our “Signature SilkPeel Facial” with Dermal Infusion. In this blog, we will discuss the “Clear Skin” Treatment, (Click here for more information about the Silkpeel Facial.)

Clear Skin with Lumecca

Clear Skin with Lumecca is one of the most modern and effective medical aesthetic treatments available utilizing intense pulsed light (IPL) to remove and reduce the appearance of almost everything from sun damage to spots to pigmentation problems and rosacea.

How does IPL work?  When the IPL is applied to the skin, it delivers peak power heat and light energy that penetrates deep into the dermis layer of skin to break up pigment and renew your skin’s structure from within.

While other treatments utilize IPL, Lumecca is unique in that it is 3 times more powerful than standard IPL, and it reaches deep into that dermis layer with 40% more energy to reduce the amount of treatments needed.

What are the results like? In just one 30-40 minute session, you will see a noticeable improvement within the first 7-10 days with results continuing to improve over the next next 2-3 weeks. You may experience some redness and flaking in the few days after the treatment, but downtime is typically minimal.

5 Ways to Keep Your Skin Glowing During the Holidays

5 Ways to Keep Your Skin Glowing During the Holidays

Glowing Skin

Holidays are one of the most joyful… and stressful times of the year. Somewhere between the spiked eggnog and late night Christmas movies we forget to take care of what truly matters; our skin. Taking care of your skin during the holidays may seem like just another task on the list of dozens of things to get done, but neglecting your skin can cause dryness, irritation and even lead to breakouts! Talk about the worst Christmas or Hanukkah gift ever! Here are 5 easy ways to keep your skin happy and healthy this holiday season, enjoy!

1. Drink More Water

Put down the wine for a minute and pour yourself a nice glass of WATER. Yes, you heard me. Drinking alcohol not only dehydrates you, but also has hidden sugars that can trigger inflammation throughout the body and lead to annoying breakouts or rashes. Just remember; for every 8 oz of alcohol, drink 16 oz of water to compensate and keep your glow on!

2. Get Some Major Zzzz

I know you have a ton of stuff to do; gift wrapping, baking, and decorating doesn’t happen overnight! Just make sure to get the proper amount of sleep in between. The average person requires anywhere from 6 to 8 hours of sleep per night to maintain proper cognitive function and cell restoration. This is crucial for skin because during REM sleep your skin begins its regenerative phase which helps to replace old cells with new cells.

3. Use a Silk Pillowcase

If you don’t already have one, put it on your Christmas list! Transepidermal water loss is when your skin can no longer hold in the moisture it is needed to maintain a proper barrier between your skin and the environment. What that means is when you’re sleeping, things like a traditional cotton pillowcases absorb the moisture from your skin, leaving you waking up to dry and itchy skin. Not to mention the amount of oil it absorbs from your hair and can transfer to your skin. Using an all-natural silk pillowcase can solve this problem and not only improve the health of your skin but also the health of your hair!

4. Exfoliate + Mask = Match Made in Heaven

Exfoliation is one of the best ways to slough off dead cells that are sitting on the surface of your skin. Using a gentle scrub, or salicylic, glycolic, or lactic acid 1-3 times weekly can dramatically improve the texture and tone of your skin. With the removal of dead skin cells on the surface, products are able to penetrate deeper to feed your skin the vitamins and nutrients it needs. Follow up with a revitalizing or hydrating mask after exfoliation and watch all your holiday woes disappear. Be careful to only use a charcoal or clay mask in areas you produce more oil (T-Zone) to prevent over drying the skin.

5. Cocktail Your Products

During the holiday season, many people suffer from abnormally dry skin due to the weather change. If you are one of those lucky people, a great way to combat dry skin is to mix a hyaluronic acid serum or facial oil into your moisturizer. What this does is increase the weight of your moisturizer without adding too many layers of product. This will insure your skin gets the hydration and moisture it needs without clogging your pores. Also a great way to turn any moisturizer into an overnight cream instantly!

Have a happy holiday & glowing New Year!

Voluma for Cheek Contouring

Voluma for Cheek Contouring

Cheek Contouring
While people often associate injectables with crow’s feet and lip enhancement, cheek contouring is becoming increasingly popular. A wonderful new FDA-approved injectable solution called Voluma (from Juvederm) is a highly recommended and simple way to achieve beautiful, pronounced cheekbones for both women and men.*
Contouring your face with makeup can be helpful in creating the illusion of defined cheekbones, but that only goes so far, as the mid-face is often the first part of our faces that age. Full cheeks are often seen as very appealing and are one of the reasons that the boosting of hollow cheeks is gaining popularity.*

Moreover, increasing hollowness of the cheeks is also a visible sign of aging. Because of this, many people are inclined to come in for Juvederm Voluma injections. Read more here:

The Link Between Loss of Cheek Volume and Aging

The primary link between aging and a loss of cheek volume comes with understanding the fact that the cheeks house a lot of fatty cells. These cells disappear over time. The key to maintaining a youthful appearance has a lot to do with restoring the volume of the cheeks.

Juvederm Voluma is a very smooth gel that is primarily made up of dense cross-linked hyaluronic acid. Hyaluronic acid is a natural material that offers structure to the tissues and is normally found in the human body. Adding this substance to the cheeks restores the structure that has been lost.*

The Juvederm Voluma Injection Procedure

The process of restoring the lost volume with Juvederm Voluma is performed with a series of injections. The duration of the injection procedure can be quite short. The substance is usually applied to the top of the bone. When administered properly, the amount that needs to be injected isn’t usually much at all.*

After the Procedure

Voluma tends to provide an almost immediate boost with very impressive results. The change in your appearance will be noticeable and impressive, but most people are not able to pinpoint the exact reason for the enhancement.* The results of Voluma injections are evident for a considerable period of time. Results have been known to last for up to two full years after the date of treatment, longer than most other dermal fillers. Touch-ups, if needed, may be available.*

Your injection treatment will not require much downtime, if any; most people return to their usual routine the following day without issues. This is in stark contrast to surgical procedures, which often require the patient to stay home and rest for weeks on end.*

After the procedure, a degree of temporary bruising and tenderness around the area may occur. This is due in part to the fact that these injections go down deeper than most other cosmetic filler injections to provide deeper rejuvenation.*

The Answer to Hollow Cheeks

Make sure that you visit an experienced professional for your Juvederm Voluma injections, as incorrect administration of this substance can have negative effects.

Parfaire’s well-respected American Board-Certified physician, Dr. Winnie Moses, is a skilled medical professional and will be happy to meet with you for a consultation. To arrange your consultation, contact our office and set up an appointment.

*Disclaimer: Any claims of restoring volume or definition or reducing the appearance of lines and wrinkles cannot be guaranteed. Individual results will vary and are often based on lifestyle factors, such as age, diet, exercise, smoking or alcohol use.

Top 5 Skincare Trends of Right Now

Top 5 Skincare Trends of Right Now

Parfaire Logo
Like many things in western culture, trends come and go. Whether its fashion, food, or you guessed it, skin care. Certain things gain popularity and once skin care companies believe it is in high demand, they start to mass produce similar products. This includes treatments, packaging, and even the use of certain ingredients.

1. Hyaluronic-acid based moisturizers:

Hyaluronic acid has been around for several decades, but in the more recent years it has gained popular hype. The main reason that it is used as a skin hydrator because of its ability to hold 1,000 times it weight . It simply hydrates, which makes perfect sense because over 8% of people are not properly hydrated, therefore neither is their skin. It gained its popularity for being the optimal option for people who are prone to acne breakouts, due to the fear of oil.

2. Radiofrequency treatments:

Radiofrequency has gained popularity, especially in the medical aesthetics arena. Due to its ability to penetrate to the deep layers of skin, it is used in conjunction with heat and other forms of controlled trauma to activate and stimulate your bodies own collagen and elastin. Many these treatments typically are done at an office setting since radiofrequency can only be done by a skin care, or medical professional.

3. AHA/BHA exfoliating masks:

Masks have been a skin care must have for the past few years. With the uprising of korean skin care, sheet masks became all the hype. However in the past few months masks have moved back into jars and are now incorporating active ingredients such as AHA/BHAs. These are alpha hydroxy acids and beta hydroxy acids which exfoliate your skin chemically. Some are naturally derived from plants and others are made chemically of course. These acids exfoliate your skin, ridding it of the dead skin cells on the outermost layer of your skin leaving your skin soft and clean and bright.

4. At-home beauty tools:

Because of the uprise of makeup and beauty in the more recent years, it has become apparent that everyone needs to improve their skin. Obviously, people do not have the time to see a skin therapist everyday, so they have began to sell skin-improving products for home.

5. Less cake, more skin:

That’s right ladies! It’s time to ditch that 30 min makeup routine in favor of a more natural look. This means that your skincare routine is that much more important.
