What is Kybella and how does it work?

What should you expect during my Kybella treatment?

Topical numbing may be used prior the treatment for your comfort. Bruising, swelling and hardness will likely occur after treatment, but can be covered with makeup and should only last a few days. A temporary stinging/burning sensation and/or mild to moderate swelling may also occur which indicates the fat dissolving process has started working in the treated area. Swelling may be significant for 7-10 days after the treatment and can last for 1-2 weeks, and up to 3 weeks for more severe cases. Noticeable results should start to appear within 3-5 weeks. Swelling is a reaction of the fat dissolving process and is expected.*

How many treatments will you need?

Our doctor will customize your Kybella treatment regimen, including how many treatments you need, based on your desired chin profile. Most patients experience visible results in 2-4 treatment sessions. During these sessions, we will administer Kybella into the fat under your chin using multiple injections. Treatments must be administered 6 weeks apart.*

How long does Kybella last?

The FDA clinical studies indicate that Kybella results are permanent as long as there are no significant lifestyle changes. At least 2 treatments are typically needed to obtain noticeable results. What should I know before my Kybella treatment?

There are certain things to be avoided before your treatment such as NSAIDs (Motrin, Aleve, Naproxen), Aspirin, Green Tea, Fish Oil and Vitamin E supplements two weeks prior to your appointment. Kybella cannot be performed if there is an infection (acne breakout, rosacea flare, lymph node swelling) in the treatment area.
